Tynedale Community Choir 20th Celebration

The SING! Day

We start off with everybody together singing in the best way we can led by Ali Burns with Jennie Fisk, top choir leaders with huge experience of working with voices of all sorts. That’s all in the Queens Hall and will be a great uplifting and confidence boosting start to the day. Then everyone goes off to different places in the town to the workshop of their choice. Top leaders from all over are coming to do simple arrangements of their favourite types of music. The choice is amazing. Jazz, folk, blues, soothing songs, ‘Strictly’ songs, ‘spell songs’, madrigals, northeast composers, songs of the sea –and more, no end of choice.

There’s a break for lunch when people will be singing around the town and then it’s back for trying a different workshop. We will gather in the Abbey later in the afternoon to listen to singing from the workshops, that should be fantastic to listen to and great fun. Then finally, in the evening we all enjoy the concert. There are some treats in store there, including the world premieres of two pieces specially commissioned by Tynedale Community Choir for their twentieth birthday from top Northeast musicians, Fiona Lander and Bridie Jackson. And the joy, of course, of going back to the beginning of the day and raising the roof together again with Ali Burns and Jennie Fisk.

Tickets are already selling, when it comes to choosing workshops, people really are spoilt for choice. We all know how wonderful a place Hexham is to be in, it’s a farmer’s market that day too so the town will be buzzing.
