The song that takes me back is Tiger Feet by Mud. In May 1977 I went to my friend Joan’s 21st birthday party with my fiancé, Andy. By then Andy and I had been together for nearly two years. We’d been to loads of discos in that time and he definitely had two left feet!
However, when someone requested Tiger Feet he and Joan started dancing and to my utter amazement he knew the steps! I have no idea how he learned them as there was no TV in his student flat and, of course, no internet or YouTube. Maybe it had something to do with beer.
In the 42 years we were together he never mastered any other dance to the same level of proficiency. Isn’t life strange?
